Newsletter
[The 6th and final issue was published in April 2011 - now discontinued. All six issues are still available for purchase - email me at micksouthwick@blueyonder.co.uk for details]
The Hub e-Newsletter is a two-monthly e-magazine which is only available directly from myself (I had intended to make it available on www.lulu.com but decided against it!). The aim of the e-Newsletter is to keep those interested in the local history scene here in the North-East abreast of all the breaking news and forthcoming events. It is published in the first week of February, April, June, August, October & December. The latest issue is No.6, published in April 2011. In order to keep the pages of the website free of clutter (and to enable me to earn a few quid), the e-Newsletter will provide an opportunity to furnish you with the finer detail of relevant news and comment. There are news stories, book reviews, course information, society & repository news, readers' comments, etc. And for genealogists there is an occasional 'Interests Section' to both use and peruse. How to Subscribe Readers enjoy free and complete access to the Hub’s website and may well also enjoy my freely-available ‘North-East History Tour’ blog. The e-Newsletter, however, is my only guaranteed way of earning anything from my online services, so I hope you will not mind parting with the following: 1 issue: £1.50 6 issues (1yr): £8.00 Subscribing is easy, and you have several options. Simply decide what you’d like to do (one issue or six) and email me at micksouthwick@blueyonder.co.uk. I will reply with an email giving you full instructions and all the options – and when you have paid in one way or another then you can sit back and do not have to click another button until your subs are due again. You will then have the issues sent to you when they are released as an email attachment (a pdf file, so make sure you have the free Adobe Reader* installed - see http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader ). And on receipt of your final issue I will send a reminder to renew. Basically, though, you will find yourself with the following payment options…
Back issues will always be available – simply ask me for a quote (generally, £1.50 each). So what are you waiting for? Email me today! * most people will probably already have this installed. If not, I would urge you to do so, as so many online downloads use the pdf format - it's really useful, and completely free. You can then save the downloaded pdf file onto your computer and print it off so that you can take me to bed with you!
As for ordering any of my other publications from Lulu, well, don’t be shy! Check out my 'Publications' page and give it a try. It’s free to register, and there are no hidden catches as far as I can tell. The one drawback is the high cost of p&p if you order ‘hard copy’ books – but this can be partially circumvented by ordering more than one book. And e-books, of course, have no p&p! Here's a bit of blurb... Lulu Lulu is a self-publishing organisation which offers anyone (even you) the opportunity to publish bookshop-quality books, etc., for your own purposes or general public release. The great thing about it is that you can print and publish single copies for your own consumption (a memoir, your diaries, family history, etc.), or go public and make some cash out of your work. I myself have a Lulu 'storefront' at www.lulu.com/historymick where you will find a good scattering of goods for sale by both myself and one or two of my 'acquaintances'. Joining Lulu is currently the only way to access my publications (other than my e-Newsletter). I would add that I have no vested interest in the Lulu cause - I simply think it is a great outlet for those of us who like to write, and well worth becoming a member of. It is free, and there is no obligation to do anything other than browse other people's products. |
